SAINT-ETIENNE, France — The managerial position at Saint-Etienne has undergone a significant change as the club has decided to part ways with coach Olivier Dall’Oglio as of Saturday.

In a statement released by the club, it was announced that Laurent Huard, who currently oversees the club’s academy, will take over as the interim coach for the Ligue 1 team. This move comes amid a challenging season for the club, which has recently returned to the top division of French football.

Saint-Etienne, once a dominant force in French soccer, has been struggling to regain its former glory. Following a recent 2-1 loss to Toulouse, the team finds itself in a precarious position, sitting at 16th place in the league standings and precariously positioned in the relegation zone.

Historically, Saint-Etienne enjoyed tremendous success during the 1960s and 70s, securing a total of 10 league titles, with the most recent championship occurring in 1981. The club’s rich history has made its current struggles all the more pronounced as it seeks to return to prominence in French football.
