MALELANE, South Africa — Marcus Kinhult is heading into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship with a two-shot advantage as he seeks to capture his first European Tour title in over five years.
During the third round on Saturday, Kinhult managed to convert a challenging greenside bunker shot into a birdie at the par-5 18th hole, finishing the day with a score of 3-under 69. His cumulative score now stands at an impressive 14-under for the tournament.
Kinhult’s lead was slightly reduced, as Ryan van Velzen climbed into second place after delivering an outstanding performance, completing his round with a bogey-free 65. This included an eagle 3 on the 13th hole, where he skillfully chipped in from the bunker.
In third place, Darius van Driel trails by three strokes after posting a round of 67.
At 28 years old, Kinhult’s only other title on the European Tour was secured at the British Masters back in May 2019.
This event marks the second consecutive tournament held in South Africa on the European Tour, following last week’s Nedbank Golf Challenge.
