MADRID — Real Valladolid secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Valencia on Friday, allowing them to climb off the bottom of La Liga’s standings.

Moroccan striker Anuar made a significant impact, scoring the decisive goal with a remarkable solo run just 19 minutes into the match.

“It’s a huge relief since we desperately needed these three points,” Anuar shared with DAZN. “It felt like a final for us, and thankfully, we emerged victorious.”

Despite Valladolid facing a setback when Juanmi Latasa was red-carded for an elbow incident after a video review in the 78th minute, they managed to withstand the pressure from a struggling Valencia side.

This victory marked a crucial three points for caretaker coach Álvaro Rubio, who has taken over the role following the dismissal of Paulo Pezzolano earlier in December.

With this defeat, Valencia now occupies the last position in the table, managing only two wins across 15 league outings, although they do have two matches in hand.
