ZURICH — The Women’s World Cup of 2027 is set to occur in Brazil, with matches scheduled from June 24 to July 25.
FIFA, the global governing body for soccer, made the announcement on Tuesday regarding these key dates.
For the first time, the prestigious tournament will take place in South America, and a total of 32 teams will compete.
As the host nation, Brazil has secured one of CONMEBOL’s three available slots.
In terms of representation, UEFA leads with 11 spots, followed by the AFC with six, CAF and CONCACAF each with four slots, and OFC with one.
The remaining tournament slots will be filled through a playoff process.
The reigning champions are Spain, who claimed victory in the 2023 Women’s World Cup, which was co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
Next year, FIFA is anticipated to reveal the host cities and stadiums in Brazil.
A total of 12 bids have been submitted, many of which include venues that were part of the men’s World Cup held in 2014.
