MURRAY, Ky. – Jacobi Wood led the charge for Murray State with a strong performance, scoring 23 points in the team’s triumphant 73-53 win over Southeast Missouri State on Sunday evening.
In addition to his scoring, Wood contributed nine rebounds to the Racers’ efforts, improving their overall record to 6-2 and marking their first win in the Missouri Valley Conference at 1-0. Nick Ellington also had a notable game, racking up 15 points while shooting 6 of 8 from the field and hitting 3 of 6 free throws, along with securing eight rebounds and making three steals. Terence Harcum added a further 12 points, converting 4 of 12 attempts, including 3 for 7 from three-point range.
On the other side, the Redhawks (3-6) saw Brendan Terry lead their scoring with 12 points and six rebounds. Tedrick Washington Jr. matched this output with another 12 points, while Rob Martin contributed eight points and five assists.
In a closely contested first half, Ellington was instrumental for Murray State, scoring eight of the team’s points, which helped the teams go into halftime tied at 33-33. However, the second half saw Wood take command by scoring an impressive 20 points, propelling the Racers to a dominant finish as they outscored the Redhawks by 20 points after the break, securing a decisive victory.
