TAMPA, Fla. — Aidan O’Connell, the quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, had to be taken off the field on a cart due to a knee injury sustained late in the third quarter of the match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The incident occurred moments after he made an 8-yard completion to Jakobi Meyers on a crucial third down play.
During the play, defensive lineman Calijah Kancey pursued O’Connell as he scrambled out of the pocket, pushing him from behind after he had released the pass. This contact resulted in O’Connell being thrown to the ground, and he remained incapacitated on the field afterwards. It is noteworthy that Kancey did not receive a penalty for the hit.
At the time of the injury, the Raiders were down by a score of 14-10. Desmond Ridder took over as the quarterback for Las Vegas following O’Connell’s departure from the game.
