NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In a tightly contested matchup, Tank Bigsby scored an 8-yard touchdown with just under seven minutes remaining, guiding the Jacksonville Jaguars to a 10-6 victory over the Tennessee Titans. This win for Jacksonville broke a five-game losing streak while simultaneously extinguishing the Titans’ slim hopes for a playoff berth.

Despite suffering many setbacks this season and entering the game already eliminated from playoff contention, the Jaguars (3-10) managed to secure only their second victory in their last eleven visits to Nashville and their second in the last three encounters at Music City.

On the other hand, the Titans (3-10) were hoping for a strong finish to the season, needing to win each of their last games to retain any playoff aspirations. The last time they made the playoffs was the 2021 season, which ended with a loss on their home turf. This offseason saw significant changes, including the firings of both their general manager and head coach.

Tennessee had two opportunities to make a comeback but fell short. The first chance came with just over a minute left when quarterback Will Levis threw a pass that fell incomplete in the end zone on fourth down. The second opportunity occurred when he attempted another desperate pass on fourth-and-15 from their own 35-yard line but could not connect once again, sealing their defeat.

In place of Trevor Lawrence, quarterback Mac Jones stepped up for Jacksonville, earning his first win of the season after two prior starts. Despite throwing two interceptions, he passed for 220 yards and established a solid connection with rookie Brian Thomas Jr., who achieved career highs with eight receptions for 86 yards.

The game’s low scoring was broken by Cam Little, who initiated the Jaguars’ late-game momentum with a 23-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. For Tennessee, Nick Folk successfully added two field goals but could not lead his team to victory as they fell to 1-5 at home this season under newly appointed coach Brian Callahan.

Levis faced adversity when he was knocked down hard right before halftime, yet he returned unscathed for the second half, finishing with 168 passing yards. The Titans’ defense, which struggled last week, managed to record two interceptions, including one from cornerback Chido Awuzie, who made his return after a long injury layoff.

The Titans faced challenges as they played without three starters due to injuries, which hindered their ability to contain the Jaguars’ offense in the fourth quarter. Rookie Jha’Quan Jackson was also scratched from the lineup due to concerns over recent fumbles, leading to Mason Kinsey, recently promoted from the practice squad, taking over as the punt returner.

In terms of injuries, the Jaguars had to adjust last minute, as right tackle Anton Harrison was deemed unfit to play due to an illness. Additionally, safety Darnell Savage was assessed for a concussion after being knocked down at the end of a running play. On the Titans’ side, linebacker Harold Landry III sustained a mild injury early in the third quarter but managed to return shortly after.

Looking ahead, the Jaguars are set to host the New York Jets in their next outing, while the Titans will continue their home stretch against the Cincinnati Bengals.
