TUCSON, Ariz. — In a decisive matchup on Saturday, the Arizona Wildcats triumphed over Southern Utah with a score of 102-66, showcasing the strength of their offense.

Anthony Dell’Orso led the charge, contributing 19 points, while six other players from Arizona also reached double digits in scoring. Notably, four of these contributors came off the bench, including KJ Lewis who added 15 points, Henri Veesaar with 12, and Motiejus Krivas who chipped in 10 points. Among the starting lineup, Tobe Awaka and Trey Townsend each scored 12, and Caleb Love contributed 11 points to the effort.

The Wildcats took an early lead, 20-16, with about 12 and a half minutes remaining in the first half. They then surged ahead, stringing together a remarkable 13-point run followed by scoring 21 of the next 23 points. By the time the halftime buzzer sounded, Arizona had put together a dominant 35-7 run, leading 55-23.

Shooting at an impressive 53% for the game, Arizona capitalized on their opportunities at the foul line, hitting 14 of 19 free throws. In a display of defensive prowess, they forced 13 turnovers from Southern Utah in the first half, resulting in a significant 20-6 advantage in points from those turnovers. The Thunderbirds would finish with a total of 18 turnovers by the end of the game.

The second half showed a more balanced contest, with the teams combining to make 12 of their first 14 shots. However, Arizona maintained a commanding lead for nearly the entire half, remaining ahead by at least 30 points for all but two possessions following the break.

With this victory, Arizona improved its record to 4-4, bouncing back after struggling earlier in the season, marking their first time under .500 since 2010. On the Southern Utah side, Jamir Simpson stood out with 21 points, while Dominique Ford contributed 13 points to their total.

Under the guidance of head coach Tommy Lloyd, Arizona has an impressive home record of 50 wins against just 4 losses over the last three seasons.
