SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Giants made significant staffing changes by appointing former general manager Bobby Evans and ex-agent Jeff Berry as special advisers on Friday, as part of the restructuring under the new president of baseball operations, Buster Posey.

Bobby Evans has a long history with the Giants, having started as an administrative assistant in 1994. He was promoted to general manager in April 2015, stepping into the role after Brian Sabean became the executive vice president of baseball operations. Evans, however, faced challenges during his tenure and was dismissed in September 2018 following two consecutive seasons of losing records for the team.

Additionally, Jeff Berry comes with extensive experience from his time at Creative Artists Agency, where he spent 26 years and served as co-head of CAA Baseball until his departure in June. Notably, he represented Posey during his time at the agency, making their collaboration a familiar one.

The Giants also welcomed Hadi Raad as the new director of pro scouting. Raad’s prior experience includes serving as the professional scouting director for the Miami Marlins from 2019 to 2022 and leading the professional evaluation team for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2023 to 2024. His background also includes roles with major leagues teams such as the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers.

In addition to these appointments, Pike Goldschmidt was brought on board as director of baseball strategy. He joined the Giants following eight seasons with the Oakland Athletics, where he held the position of director of baseball development since January 2023.
