TIGNALL, Ga. — Authorities in Georgia have initiated a search for a man believed to be connected to the tragic deaths of three individuals and the injury of a woman.
The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office has requested that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) take the lead on this case, which pertains to a triple homicide that occurred in Tignall, a small town located just a few miles from the Georgia-South Carolina border.
On Thursday morning, around 8:30 a.m., deputies from Wilkes County were dispatched to a residence in Tignall following reports of an injured woman. During their inquiries, law enforcement discovered that the woman had sustained injuries at a separate location. Upon examining this second site, deputies found three deceased individuals inside the home, according to a statement made by the GBI.
Preliminary findings from the investigation revealed that a man named Shannon Box, 56, from Tignall, is the primary suspect in the assault on the injured woman. Authorities are currently seeking assistance from the public in locating Box, who was last seen driving a gray 2002 GMC Sierra Pickup Truck displaying a Georgia Handicap Tag numbered YXA119.
Box is being charged with one count of aggravated assault and is also being questioned in relation to the three fatalities discovered at the second residence. Authorities are urging anyone who has any information regarding Box’s location to reach out to either the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office or the GBI.
