BETHLEHEM, Pa. — In an impressive performance, Tyler Whitney-Sidney scored 23 points, leading Lehigh to a commanding 90-63 victory against Monmouth on Wednesday evening.
Whitney-Sidney demonstrated his shooting prowess, hitting 9 of 13 attempts, including 4 for 6 from the three-point range, for the Mountain Hawks, who improved to a record of 3-5. Teammate Keith Higgins Jr. contributed significantly, finishing with 15 points obtained from 3 of 8 shooting, alongside a perfect record of 7 for 7 from the foul line. Edouard Benoit also added to the team’s success, scoring 14 points on 4 of 7 shooting, which included 3 out of 5 from beyond the arc and a flawless 3 for 3 from the charity stripe.
For the Hawks (1-9), Abdi Bashir Jr. led the scoring effort with 22 points, while Jack Collins added 17 points and Madison Durr chipped in with 10 points.
Lehigh seized control of the game early, taking the lead with 17:02 remaining in the first half and maintaining it throughout the contest. Benoit was pivotal in the first half, scoring 11 points, which contributed to a halftime score of 39-27 in favor of Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks surged ahead in the second half with a decisive 12-2 run, expanding their lead from 16 points to 26. They dominated the second half, outscoring Monmouth by 15 points, with Whitney-Sidney leading the charge and scoring a total of 13 points after the break.
