LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In a thrilling encounter on Saturday, the No. 24 ranked Louisville Cardinals triumphed over Colorado with a score of 79-71, thanks in large part to the contributions of Nyla Harris and Jayda Curry. Harris recorded 14 points, while Curry clinched 10 of her 14 points during an electrifying fourth quarter.

Entering the final quarter, the Cardinals held a narrow lead of 56-55. However, they quickly distanced themselves from the Buffaloes by launching an impressive 16-0 run, which was highlighted by a fast-break layup from Curry. It wasn’t until 2:48 remained in the game that Colorado finally scored their first field goal of the fourth quarter.

The Buffaloes responded with six consecutive points, narrowing the gap to 72-63. But Louisville’s freshman standout, Tajianna Roberts, answered back with a crucial jumper from the lane, further securing the Cardinal’s lead.

In the closing moments of the game, Izela Arenas sealed the victory with two successful free throws, extending the lead back to nine points with only 24.9 seconds left on the clock. Alongside Harris and Curry, Roberts contributed 13 points, while Arenas added 11 for Louisville, which improved its record to 5-2.

Frida Formann was the standout performer for Colorado, netting an impressive 25 points. Jade Masogayo contributed 12 points, and both Nyamer Diew and Kindyll Wetta scored 10 points each. Notably, Wetta also achieved a career-high of 10 assists during the match.

The game saw Formann spark a scoring run of 8-0 that allowed Colorado to take a 43-37 lead with 7:38 left in the third quarter. During this period, she reached the 20-point mark while other teammates struggled to find double figures in scoring.

Looking ahead, Louisville is set to face No. 8 Oklahoma in the upcoming SEC/ACC Challenge on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Colorado will continue its five-game homestand with a matchup against Tennessee Tech on Tuesday.
