In a competitive matchup on Saturday, Abdi Bashir Jr. showcased an impressive performance, scoring 28 points to lead Monmouth to a 63-51 victory over Seton Hall in Newark, New Jersey.
Bashir displayed great efficiency, hitting 11 of his 19 shots, and demonstrated his shooting prowess by sinking 6 of 9 attempts from three-point territory. The Hawks, despite their difficult season (1-8), found support in Jack Collins, who contributed 13 points with a shooting line of 4 for 12, including 3 for 11 from long range, while also grabbing five rebounds. Additionally, Jaret Valencia made his mark, finishing with 11 points after going 5 of 8 from the field.
On the flip side, Isaiah Coleman emerged as the leading scorer for the Pirates, accumulating 20 points in the effort, followed closely by Chaunce Jenkins who added 12 points to the scoreboard.
Bashir’s strong second-half performance played a crucial role in Monmouth’s success, as he added 10 points in the latter portion of the game to help secure the win over Seton Hall.
