RENO, Nev. — In an impressive performance, Avery Morrow scored twice on the ground, while Justin Marshall added another rushing touchdown, helping Colorado State secure a decisive 38-21 victory against Nevada on Saturday night.

With this win, Colorado State improved its record to 6-3 overall and maintained an undefeated 4-0 mark in the Mountain West Conference. The Rams have been on a roll, winning four consecutive games and five of their last six outings.

Making an early impact, Morrow opened the scoring with a 7-yard touchdown run at the 10:40 mark of the first quarter. Following a punt from Nevada, Marshall finished off an impressive seven-play, 80-yard drive with an 8-yard touchdown run, extending the Rams’ lead to 14-0 with just 2:20 left in the first quarter.

In a standout moment, kicker Jordan Noyes nailed a career-best 60-yard field goal, which is tied as the second longest in the school’s history, to give Colorado State a 17-0 advantage at halftime. The second half began with a pivotal play when Ayden Hector forced a fumble, which was recovered by Gabe Kirschke. This set up a 21-yard field goal from Noyes, further widening the gap to 20-0 with 11:30 remaining in the third quarter.

Things got chaotic for Nevada on the subsequent kickoff, as miscommunication led to a failure to field the ball. Caleb Goodie, a sophomore wide receiver, sprinted down the field, tackled the returner Sean Dollars near the ball, and it rolled into the end zone where Jace Bellah fell on it for a touchdown. Jamari Person then caught a pass for the two-point conversion, prompting a 28-0 lead with 11:17 to go in the third.

For Nevada, quarterback Brendon Lewis completed 20 of 28 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown, while also leading his team on the ground with 109 yards from 14 carries, which included two 3-yard touchdowns. Cortez Braham Jr. was a standout receiver, amassing 141 yards on nine receptions.

To conclude the scoring, Noyes added a 35-yard field goal with just 1:11 left on the clock, solidifying Colorado State’s dominance in the matchup.

Nevada’s struggles continued, as they now find themselves with a disappointing record of 3-7 overall and an 0-4 mark in the conference, with three consecutive losses and four defeats in their last five matches.
