Hyderabad, India — In a spectacular display of skill and power, Sanju Samson scored his maiden T20 century, achieving this milestone in just 40 deliveries, as India triumphed over Bangladesh in the third and final T20 match by 133 runs, clinching the series 3-0 on Saturday.
Samson’s contribution was a remarkable 111 runs from only 47 balls, featuring an impressive eight sixes and eleven fours. He received strong support from captain Suryakumar Yadav, who made a swift 75 runs off 35 balls. Hardik Pandya also made his mark with a quick-fire 47 runs from just 18 balls, helping India post a staggering total of 297-6. This score stands as the second-highest in T20 international history, surpassed only by Nepal, who scored 314-3 against Mongolia during the 2023 Asia Cup.
Opting to bat first, India set a new benchmark by scoring the most runs through boundaries in a T20I match, which included a record-setting 22 sixes—its highest total to date in a T20 match—and 25 fours.
When Bangladesh batted in response, they could only muster 164-7. Key contributions came from Towhid Hridoy, who ended with an unbeaten 63 runs off 42 balls, and Litton Das, who scored 42 runs from 25 deliveries. Ravi Bishnoi emerged as the standout bowler for India, taking 3 wickets for just 30 runs in his four-over spell.
India had already secured the series with an earlier victory, winning the second T20 by 86 runs on Wednesday. They also claimed the first T20 in Gwalior by a margin of seven wickets. The team previously dominated the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, finishing with a 2-0 victory.
