Kentucky high school student fatally struck by school bus

    A tragic incident occurred in Winchester, Kentucky, as a 15-year-old girl named McKenna Letcher was struck and killed by a school bus while crossing the street before school. McKenna, a student at George Rogers Clark High School in Clark County, lost her life in the accident that took place around 6:45 a.m. at a bustling intersection.

    The Clark County Coroner confirmed the identity of the victim and expressed the community’s deep sorrow over the loss. Following the fatal accident, a resident living nearby commented on the intersection’s dangerous history, recounting multiple motor vehicle accidents that have taken place there. Joy Sparks told WLEX-TV about the concerning frequency of accidents in the area, noting her own experiences witnessing the collisions whilst in her yard.

    In response to the tragic event, Clark County Schools issued a statement extending their condolences and providing assurance that grief counseling and support services would be made available to students and staff affected by the incident. Superintendent Dustin Howard relayed the heartbreak felt by the school family and urged the community to keep McKenna’s family, as well as the entire school system and town, in their thoughts and prayers during the challenging times ahead.
