Two young boys from Germany, aged 9 and 12, tragically passed away in Denmark after being buried in a sand dune they were digging on a beach in northwestern Denmark. The incident occurred on Sunday while the boys were on vacation with their family from Munich. Despite being rescued by emergency responders and locals after 40 minutes of being buried, the boys were in critical condition and were airlifted to a hospital in Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
The authorities, Central and West Jutland Police, have labeled the incident as a “tragic accident” and have not disclosed the names of the victims. The boys were engaging in innocent play by digging a hole in the dune when the sand suddenly collapsed on them, leading to the fatal outcome. The police have not provided any further details on the incident, respecting the privacy of the grieving families and keeping the focus on this unfortunate accident.
