Brian May, guitarist of Queen, reveals he suffered a minor stroke but remains able to play music

Brian May, the iconic lead guitarist of the legendary British rock band Queen, has shared with fans that he recently suffered a “minor stroke” which caused temporary loss of control over his arm. The 77-year-old musician reassured everyone that he is doing “OK” but confirmed he has been advised not to drive, fly, or engage in any activities that could raise his heart rate too high as he recovers from the health scare.

In a video posted on his website, May expressed gratitude for being able to continue playing the guitar despite the challenging experience. He revealed that the stroke occurred unexpectedly about a week ago, leaving him with no control over one of his arms, a situation he found “a little scary.”

Despite the ordeal, May commended the exceptional care he received from his local hospital in Surrey, southwest of London, and emphasized that he did not seek sympathy from fans. Concerned about a flooded inbox, he humorously advised against sending sympathy messages.

Alongside drummer Roger Taylor, Brian May has persevered in performing and keeping the Queen legacy alive ever since the passing of the band’s beloved frontman, Freddie Mercury, in 1991.
