Katy Perry is going to space—with five other incredible women!

Okay, I literally cannot believe this is real—Katy Perry is going to space!!! And not just her, but an all-female crew of inspiring, powerful women are set to launch aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard mission this spring. This is huge. Like, history-making huge.

As a woman, seeing six incredible women head to space together is beyond inspiring. We grew up being told that space was mostly for men—astronauts were usually guys in big space suits, and the stories we heard were about Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and all the other legends. But now? We’re living in a time where women are claiming their space (literally), and I’m obsessed with it.

Meet the Women Going to Space!

The crew is stacked with trailblazers. Here’s who’s going:

Katy Perry – YES, the pop queen herself! She’s not just “California Gurl” anymore; she’s about to be a space girl. Imagine her belting out Firework while floating in zero gravity—ICONIC.

Gayle King – The legendary journalist who has been breaking barriers in media is now breaking into the final frontier. We love a powerful woman making history.

Amanda Nguyen – A bioastronautics scientist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee (casual!) who fights for survivors of sexual violence. She will be the first Vietnamese and Southeast Asian woman astronaut. Representation matters and this is everything.

Aisha Bowe – A former NASA rocket scientist and current CEO of STEMBoard. She’s proving that women in STEM can literally reach for the stars.

Kerianne Flynn – A film producer and nonprofit leader who has worked on huge community projects in New York. She’s proof that space isn’t just for scientists—there’s a place for creatives, too!

Lauren Sánchez – A pilot, journalist, and vice chair of the Bezos Earth Fund. She brought this mission together, showing that when women lead, big things happen.

Why This Mission Is So Important

This isn’t just another space flight. It’s the first all-female crew since 1963. Think about that for a second—it has been over SIXTY YEARS since an all-women mission like this has happened. How wild is that?! NASA has only selected 61 women to be astronauts in its entire history, but now, thanks to space tourism and private space companies like Blue Origin, that number is finally growing.

Also, let’s talk about what this means for women everywhere. Seeing women—especially a mix of scientists, journalists, performers, and entrepreneurs—head to space sends a loud and clear message: there are no limits to what women can do.

Why I’m So Inspired

Growing up, I never thought space was an option for someone like me. It felt like this exclusive club for a certain type of person. But this mission is proof that the future of space isn’t just for astronauts in training—it’s for any woman with big dreams. Whether you’re into science, storytelling, activism, or even pop music, there’s a place for you among the stars.

And if Katy Perry can go from singing about being an “alien” (cue E.T.) to actually becoming one, who’s to say what’s next for us? Maybe one day, we’ll be up there too.

One small step for these six women, one giant leap for all of us. ??
