MILAN — At 90 years old, Giorgio Armani continues to innovate and surprise in the fashion world. His latest Emporio Armani collection, unveiled at Milan Fashion Week, showcased a clever theme centered around playing cards.
Integral to the collection were sequined playing cards thoughtfully placed in bodices and strategically inserted into belts and jacket pockets. In a playful nod to card suits, tops took on heart shapes, belt buckles resembled diamonds, and costume jewelry depicted clubs and spades. For true enthusiasts, an overcoat displayed all the suits together.
Armani seamlessly integrated men’s wardrobe elements into the women’s collection, offering three-piece suits and luxurious velvet outfits complemented by matching ties or oversized neck bows. The trousers, designed for comfort, had a relaxed fit and were equipped with deep, practical pockets. Adding a touch of whimsy, shirt collars and cuffs sometimes appeared to float, detached from the clothing.
After the show, the iconic designer appeared on stage for his traditional bow, joined by his niece, Silvana Armani. As head of the womenswear design studio, her presence underscored the legacy and future continuity of the Armani brand.
