SAN ANTONIO — Jalin Anderson had a standout performance, contributing 22 points that propelled Incarnate Word to a narrow 63-61 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Saturday evening.

Marcus Glover played a crucial role in the closing moments, sinking two free throws with just 16 seconds remaining, giving Incarnate Word a crucial 63-60 advantage. Subsequently, Dominic Pangonis managed to hit only one of his free throws, and SFA’s Chrishawn Christmas failed to convert a layup in the final seconds, sealing the fate of the game.

Anderson not only excelled in scoring but also contributed five assists for the Cardinals, who now hold a record of 14 wins and 14 losses, along with a 7-10 standing in the Southland Conference. Dylan Hayman added significant support with 16 points on a 7-of-12 shooting performance, coupled with nine rebounds. Lamin Sabally was flawless from the field, going 6-for-6, totaling 12 points while grabbing eight rebounds as well.

For Stephen F. Austin, Kyle Hayman was the standout player, scoring 23 points and achieving two steals. Meanwhile, Keon Thompson and Dominic Pangonis each chipped in with eight points. The loss marked an end to the ‘Jacks’ five-game winning streak, leaving them with an equal record of 14-14 and 7-10 in the conference.

Both teams are scheduled to compete again on Monday. Incarnate Word will take on Lamar at home, whereas SFA will make their way to face Houston Christian.
