LOWELL, Mass. — Max Brooks shined for UMass Lowell, scoring a remarkable 30 points in their victory over UMBC with a final score of 98-79 on Thursday night.
Brooks contributed significantly beyond just points, adding five rebounds and four blocks to the River Hawks’ performance (16-11, 5-7 in America East Conference). Quinton Mincey also had a stellar game, recording 24 points alongside 10 rebounds and five assists, while Martin Somerville scored 18 points, shooting impressively with five of twelve from the field, including three of six from beyond the arc, and making five of six free throws.
On the opposing side, the Retrievers (12-16, 4-9) were led by Bryce Johnson, who scored 19 points and secured three steals. Louie Jordan also contributed to the scoreline with 15 points, while Josh Odunowo added 12 points of his own.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Saturday, with UMass Lowell heading to Vermont and UMBC scheduled to host NJIT.
