MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins have officially signed first baseman Ty France to a one-year contract, alongside a minor league agreement with right-handed pitcher Erasmo Ramírez, as announced on Saturday.

The 30-year-old France had a season batting average of .234, accumulating 24 doubles, 13 home runs, and 51 RBIs while playing for the Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds. He was traded to the Reds on July 29 after being designated for assignment by Seattle. France became a free agent on November 1 after declining a move to Triple-A Louisville.

Over the course of six seasons with Major League teams San Diego, Seattle, and Cincinnati, France has posted a career batting average of .263, hitting a total of 74 home runs and driving in 312 runs.

On the other hand, 34-year-old Erasmo Ramírez had a solid season in 2023, going 3-0 with one save and a 4.35 ERA during 13 appearances out of the bullpen for the Tampa Bay Rays. While performing for Triple-A Durham, he recorded a 3-4 record, four saves, and a commendable 3.23 ERA. In his 13 seasons in the Major Leagues, Ramírez holds a record of 43 wins, 34 losses, with five saves and a 4.37 ERA, having played for various teams including Seattle, Tampa Bay, Boston, the New York Mets, Detroit, and Washington.
