BATON ROUGE, La. — In a strong showing on Saturday night, Damariee Jones scored 11 points, helping the Southern Jaguars secure a 72-60 win over the Prairie View A&M Panthers.
Jones also grabbed seven rebounds, contributing significantly to the team’s performance, which advanced their record to 16-9 overall and 11-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Alongside Jones, Brentay Noel added 10 points and matched his teammate’s rebound total with seven boards. Michael Jacobs chipped in with 10 points, managing to hit 4 of his 11 shot attempts.
On the other side, Braelon Bush was the standout performer for the Panthers, scoring 19 points.
Tanahj Pettway followed closely behind with 18 points and recorded two steals in a spirited effort for Prairie View A&M.
Zaakir Sawyer also made a notable contribution, finishing with 17 points and securing six rebounds. The defeat marked the Panthers’ eighth consecutive loss, underscoring a challenging season for the team as they now sit at 4-21 overall and 3-9 in conference play.
