SEATTLE — In an intense matchup, Tyler Harris led the Washington Huskies with 18 points, while Great Osobor contributed 16 points along with nine rebounds, helping the team secure a 76-71 victory over Northwestern on Saturday night. This win marked a significant turnaround for Washington, as it ended a four-game losing streak at home.

DJ Davis and Zoom Diallo also made noteworthy contributions, scoring 15 and 10 points, respectively. The game saw a dramatic shift as Northwestern managed to erase a 14-point deficit in the second half. Nick Martinelli ignited the Wildcats’ comeback by scoring seven straight points, giving Northwestern a 66-62 lead with just over three minutes left, which was their first lead since early in the match. However, Osobor quickly responded with a three-point play that allowed the Huskies to regain control, while Davis sealed the game by sinking a three-pointer that extended the lead to 71-66 with 1 minute and 19 seconds remaining.

Martinelli was the standout for Northwestern, finishing the game with a double-double: 23 points and 10 rebounds. His teammates Ty Berry and Justin Mullins added 14 and 13 points, respectively, but it wasn’t enough to clinch the win. Early in the second half, Diallo’s jumper put Washington ahead 49-34, yet Mullins sparked an impressive 11-0 run shortly after, ultimately tying the game at 55-55 with 7:48 left on the clock.

Northwestern began the game on a positive note, taking a 6-2 lead thanks to Mullins’ three-pointer just two minutes in. However, a rough scoring drought ensued, with the Wildcats failing to score for over six minutes, during which they missed seven shots and committed three turnovers, allowing Washington to go on a 10-point scoring spree.

In the first half, Davis was instrumental in propelling Washington forward, hitting a three-pointer that triggered an 18-6 rally to stretch the advantage to 34-22 with just over three minutes remaining before halftime.

Adding to the team’s challenges, fifth-year guard Luis Kortright was suspended indefinitely earlier that day for not adhering to program standards. The Rhode Island transfer, who has been averaging 4.9 points per game this season, is on the brink of a personal milestone, needing just eight points to reach 1,000 for his career.

Looking ahead, Northwestern is set to play against Oregon on Tuesday, while Washington will hit the road to face Ohio State on Wednesday.
