Kentrell Garnett contributed significantly to Louisiana’s hard-fought 66-64 win over Northern Illinois on Saturday, scoring a total of 12 points.
Garnett’s performance included five successful shots out of twelve attempts, with two of eight from three-point range for the Ragin’ Cajuns, whose overall record now stands at 8-17.
Supporting Garnett, Brandon Hardy added nine points, connecting on four of nine shots, including one from three-point territory.
Christian Wright also played a vital role, scoring eight points and efficiently converting two out of four field goals alongside three successful attempts from the free-throw line.
On the other side, the Huskies fell short despite a strong effort from Quaran McPherson, who emerged as the top scorer with 19 points to go along with six rebounds.
Quentin Jones contributed valuable stats as well, finishing the game with 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals for Northern Illinois.
Additionally, James Dent Jr. matched Jones’s scoring output, also netting 14 points while pulling down seven rebounds.
The game saw Louisiana facing an uphill battle after trailing 39-28 at halftime but managed to take the lead in the second half, establishing a margin of up to seven points.
Despite the Huskies’ efforts to bounce back with a late-game rally, it ultimately fell short, handing Louisiana the much-needed victory.
