BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — UC Santa Barbara garnered an impressive victory against Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday night, triumphing 81-75 with an outstanding performance from Stephan D. Swenson, who contributed 22 points.
In addition to his scoring, Swenson also recorded six rebounds and seven assists, playing a pivotal role in his team’s success. The Gauchos now hold a record of 15-8 and 7-5 in the Big West Conference. Other notable contributors for UCSB included Kenny Pohto, who added 14 points along with five rebounds, and Max Murrell, who exhibited remarkable shooting by going 5 for 5 from the field, including a perfect 3 for 3 from three-point range, accumulating a total of 13 points.
For the Roadrunners, CJ Hardy emerged as the leading scorer with 19 points, complemented by two steals. Jemel Jones also made a significant contribution with 16 points. Corey Stephenson rounded out the scorers with 12 points, while also providing seven assists and securing two steals for Cal State Bakersfield, who now have a record of 10-14 and 4-8 in conference play.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Saturday. UC Santa Barbara will play host to Hawaii while Cal State Bakersfield heads out on the road to face UC Riverside.
