The Pittsburgh Pirates have struck a deal with left-handed pitcher Tim Mayza, securing him on a one-year contract valued at $1.15 million.

Last season, Mayza recorded a 0-2 win-loss record alongside a 6.33 earned run average (ERA) across 50 games in relief for both the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees. Despite his struggles during the regular season, he shined in the postseason, where he did not concede a single run in three appearances.

Mayza, who celebrated his 33rd birthday last month, has accumulated a career record of 20 wins against 9 losses, a 3.88 ERA, and four saves over seven seasons in Major League Baseball, primarily with Toronto from 2017 to 2024, as well as with New York. He underwent Tommy John surgery on September 18, 2019, just days after suffering an elbow injury in a matchup against the Yankees, and made his return to the big leagues in April 2021.

Additionally, the Pirates have designated infielder Alika Williams for assignment.
