CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — In a thrilling matchup on Thursday night, Samford clinched a 73-69 victory over Chattanooga, thanks in large part to Jaden Brownell’s impressive performance, where he scored 20 points.
Brownell demonstrated exceptional shooting efficiency, making 6 of his 10 field goal attempts and finishing a perfect 7 for 7 from the free-throw line. The Bulldogs now hold a record of 16 wins and 4 losses, with a conference record of 6-1 in the Southern Conference.
Another key contributor for Samford was Josh Holloway, who added 10 points to the scoreboard. He achieved an efficient shooting night as well, going 3 for 5 from the field and making all three of his free-throw attempts. Holloway also contributed significantly in other ways, recording five rebounds and five assists. Additionally, Trey Fort chipped in with 10 points, shooting 4 for 6 overall and 1 for 3 from the three-point range.
On the opposing side, the Mocs were led by Bash Wieland, who managed to secure 18 points. Trey Bonham also made a notable impact, scoring 13 points while recording two steals. Meanwhile, Honor Huff contributed to the team’s efforts with 11 points.
Both teams will be back in action this Saturday, with Samford set to host Wofford, while Chattanooga will travel to face East Tennessee State.
