CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — On Tuesday evening, Isaac McKneely showcased an impressive performance, sinking six three-pointers and accumulating a total of 21 points, leading Virginia to a commanding 74-56 victory over Boston College.
Virginia (9-10, 2-6 ACC) began the game with an aggressive 16-6 run and maintained a comfortable double-digit advantage for the duration of the matchup. This win marked the end of a five-game losing streak for the Cavaliers, which was their worst run since a nine-game ACC drought back in 2010.
McKneely demonstrated his shooting prowess by hitting 7 out of 10 attempts from the field, marking his fifth game this season where he has made at least six three-pointers. Fellow teammate Andrew Rohde contributed significantly with 16 points, while Elijah Saunders added another 10 points to the scoreboard. The Cavaliers demonstrated solid shooting statistics, making 26 of 50 shots (52%) overall and 11 of 20 (55%) from beyond the arc.
Leading the charge for Boston College (9-10, 1-7) was Fred Payne, who netted 17 points. Chad Venning and Dion Brown also made notable contributions, scoring 14 and 11 points, respectively.
In the first half, McKneely was particularly impactful, scoring 12 points from four three-pointers. Saunders and Rohde each contributed two three-pointers, adding 10 points each and helping Virginia establish a solid 41-23 lead at halftime. During this period, the Cavaliers shot a commendable 16 of 29 (55%) from the field and 9 of 16 (60%) from three-point territory, while Venning scored eight points for Boston College in the first half.
Virginia has now achieved an impressive nine consecutive victories at home against the Eagles.
Looking ahead, Boston College aims to break its five-game losing streak as it prepares for a road clash at North Carolina on Saturday. Meanwhile, Virginia is set to host Notre Dame on the same day.
