AMHERST, Mass. — On Sunday, Massachusetts basketball team earned a decisive victory over La Salle, with a final score of 82-60. Jaylen Curry was instrumental in this win, contributing significantly with 22 points and seven assists, leading the Minutemen to improve their season record to 8-11 overall and 3-3 within the Atlantic 10 Conference.
In addition to Curry’s effort, Rahsool Diggins added 17 points for UMass, although his shooting was a bit inconsistent, finishing 7 of 20 from the field, including 3 of 10 from beyond the arc. Daniel Hankins-Sanford also made a solid contribution with 10 points, going 5 for 10 from the field.
For La Salle, who now stand at 10-8 overall and 2-4 in conference play, Deuce Jones was the standout scorer with 17 points. His teammates contributed as well, with Daeshon Shepherd recording 12 points and grabbing eight rebounds, while Demetrius Lilley added 10 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Massachusetts gained momentum at the end of the first half, closing out with an impressive 11-0 run that established an eight-point lead. Malek Abdelgowad also played a pivotal role during this stretch, leading UMass in scoring at that point with eight points. In the second half, Curry dominated by scoring 16 points, which propelled UMass to outscore La Salle by 14 points and confirm their victory.
