Kaufman-Renn contributes 19 points as No. 17 Purdue rallies to defeat Washington 69-58

SEATTLE — Trey Kaufman-Renn was instrumental in No. 17 Purdue’s comeback, scoring 19 points as they defeated Washington 69-58 on Wednesday evening.
The Boilermakers, now standing at 14-4 with a 6-1 record in the Big Ten, found themselves trailing by 10 points late in the first half and were still down by eight at halftime.
However, they launched into the second half with remarkable intensity, outscoring the Huskies 11-2 to take control of the game.
Kaufman-Renn, who has an average of 17.5 points per game, significantly contributed to this turnaround by netting 13 points in the second half alone.
Braden Smith also had a solid performance, adding 17 points along with six rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
Other notable contributions came from Caleb Furst, who scored 15 points, and Fletcher Loyer, who added 12.
In the second half, Purdue dominated the scoring against the Huskies (10-8, 1-6), outscoring them 19 points and showcasing their control in the paint with a 40-22 edge.
Great Osobor was the standout for Washington, finishing with 28 points, shooting an impressive 8 of 9 from the field, and going a perfect 5 for 5 from three-point range, while also grabbing nine rebounds.

Key points from the game include Purdue’s extended winning streak, which has now reached six games, winning by an average margin of 20.3 points during this stretch.
Conversely, the Huskies are struggling, having lost three consecutive games and experiencing a season-high 17 turnovers in this matchup.

A pivotal moment in the game was Purdue’s 13-0 run over the course of a little more than three minutes, which flipped a 36-35 deficit into a commanding 48-36 lead with just over 10 minutes left in the game.

An interesting statistic from the game is that Purdue shot poorly from the free-throw line in the first half, managing only 2 of 6 attempts, but then rebounded impressively, hitting 14 of 16 in the second half.

Looking ahead, Purdue will conclude their trip to the Pacific Northwest with a matchup against No. 13 Oregon on Saturday, while Washington will face the Ducks on the following Tuesday.
