PROVO, Utah — In an impressive display, Trevin Knell led the BYU Cougars to a decisive 85-69 victory over Oklahoma State, ending their three-game losing streak. Knell contributed significantly with 18 points, 13 of which came before halftime, while reserve player Dallin Hall added 14 points to the scoreline.
Alongside Knell and Hall, Richie Saunders also shone with 12 points, while Egor Denim and Keba Keita chipped in with 10 points each for BYU, improving their overall record to 11-5 and 2-3 in Big 12 play. On the opposing side, Oklahoma State saw strong performances from Jamyron Keller and Bryce Thompson, who each netted 15 points, with Abou Ousmane contributing 13 points.
The Cougars quickly established control, jumping out to a 17-6 lead that they would maintain throughout the game. A dominant offensive surge saw them outscore the Cowboys 25-9 over a ten-minute stretch, extending their lead to 42-15 after Dawson Baker sank two free throws with 3:23 left in the first half. At halftime, BYU was shooting an impressive 60% (15 for 25) and led 46-26.
Oklahoma State struggled initially, managing only 25.8% shooting in the first half. However, they emerged from the break with renewed energy, embarking on a 22-5 run over the first 6.5 minutes of the second half, with Keller hitting three 3-pointers and bringing the score close at 51-48.
The Cougars, refusing to let their lead slip away, responded with an 11-2 run to push the margin back to 62-50 with just over ten minutes remaining, and they maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the game.
Looking ahead, Oklahoma State will face Colorado on Saturday, while BYU will travel a short distance north on Interstate 15 to compete against Utah in Salt Lake City the same day.
