Lewis tallies 18 points as Saint Mary’s defeats San Diego 103-56

SAN DIEGO — Mikey Lewis contributed significantly off the bench, scoring 18 points and helping propel Saint Mary’s to a dominant 103-56 victory over San Diego on Saturday.

Lewis demonstrated impressive shooting, going 7 for 8 overall and sinking 4 out of 5 from three-point range for the Gaels, who improved their record to 15-3 and remain undefeated at 5-0 in the West Coast Conference. Mitchell Saxen had a strong performance as well, contributing 15 points along with 12 rebounds, while Jordan Ross added 12 points, managing to make 4 of his 9 shots from the floor, including all 4 of his successful three-point attempts.

Joey Chammaa was the standout player for the Toreros, finishing the game with 14 points. His team also saw contributions from Tony Duckett, who scored nine points, and Kjay Bradley Jr., who added eight points to the scoreboard.

Saint Mary’s marked their first game of the season where they surpassed the 100-point mark. They established control early, taking the lead just over a minute into play and maintaining that advantage throughout; the halftime score recorded 41-24 with Augustas Marciulionis scoring nine points as well. In the second half, Saint Mary’s extended their lead significantly to as much as 82-42, driven by an impressive 13-0 scoring streak. Lewis led his team in the second half, netting 11 points as they sealed their convincing win.
