David Moyes takes over as Everton manager during a crucial period for the club

Everton has appointed David Moyes as their manager for a second time, a decision made public on Saturday.
Moyes takes over from Sean Dyche, who was dismissed just a couple of days earlier as the team found themselves merely one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

The 61-year-old Moyes has a deep-rooted history with Everton, having managed the club from 2002 until 2013.
During his earlier tenure, he achieved significant success, leading the club to the FA Cup final in 2009 and into four European competitions.
“It’s great to be back,” Moyes expressed his enthusiasm.
“I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club.”

The club, which boasts a rich history as a nine-time English champion, has been seeking a major trophy since 1995.
Last month, Everton was acquired by the Texas-based Friedkin Group in a deal reportedly exceeding 400 million pounds (around $495 million).
Everton’s upcoming match is set for Wednesday, where they will host Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Marc Watts, the club’s executive chairman, remarked, “We are pleased that David is joining us at this pivotal time in Everton’s history.”
He emphasized that with over a decade of experience at the club, Moyes is well-equipped to guide them through the conclusion of their time at Goodison Park and transition to their new stadium.
The duration of Moyes’ contract has not been publicly disclosed, but reports suggest it spans 2.5 years.

Dyche’s termination came just hours prior to Everton’s FA Cup third-round match, where they managed a 2-0 victory over third-tier team Peterborough.
Moyes faces an immediate challenge in improving the squad’s goal-scoring capabilities, as the team has only netted 15 goals across 19 Premier League matches – the second-lowest tally in the league.

Before this role, Moyes was the manager of West Ham, where he concluded his tenure at the end of last season.
During his time there, he guided the team to victory in the Europa Conference League in 2023.
Moyes has also held managerial positions at Manchester United, Real Sociedad, and Sunderland previously.
