BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — In an exciting matchup on Thursday evening, Mason Nicholson led Jacksonville State to a hard-fought 73-67 victory against Western Kentucky, scoring a total of 20 points.
Nicholson’s impressive performance also included 12 rebounds and three blocks, highlighting his vital role in the Gamecocks’ win as they improved to 9-6 overall and 1-1 in Conference USA.
Additionally, Quel’Ron House showcased his versatility by contributing 14 points, along with an impressive nine rebounds and seven assists, while Jaron Pierre Jr. struggled a bit but finished with 12 points, albeit going 5 of 18 from the field and hitting just one out of seven attempts from beyond the arc.
For the Hilltoppers (10-6, 1-2), Enoch Kalambay led the scoring with 24 points, while Julius Thedford added another 17 to the team’s total.
The first half saw House making an early impact with eight points; however, Jacksonville State found themselves down at halftime, trailing 27-24.
The Gamecocks rallied in the second half, with Nicholson stepping up significantly by scoring 14 points after halftime, helping to secure the team’s victory.
