BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Malik Reneau and Mackenzie Mgbako both scored 14 points as Indiana came back from their first loss in the Big Ten Conference to defeat Chattanooga 74-65 on Saturday, maintaining their perfect home record.

With the score at 67-63, Frank Champion made two free throws, narrowing the gap for the Mocs. However, following a series of quick trades of baskets between Reneau and Chattanooga’s Trey Bonham, Myles Rice and Trey Galloway drove to the basket for layups. Anthony Leal then sealed the game with a made free throw, finishing off the scoring for Indiana.

Rice, who previously averaged 12.4 points per game and scored 20 points in a loss against Nebraska, struggled during this game, shooting only 2 of 8 from the field and missing all four attempts from three-point range, resulting in a total of four points—both coming from early in the game and late in the final minute.

Indiana (9-3) had a comfortable lead of 13 points in the second half after a dunk from Reneau. However, Chattanooga’s Honor Huff responded to help his team make a comeback with three 3-pointers. Huff’s impressive shooting from beyond the arc landed him a total of 20 points to lead the Mocs (8-5), while Bonham and Bash Wieland contributed 11 points each.

The Hoosiers improved their all-time series against the Mocs to a perfect 4-0 and have maintained an undefeated 8-0 record at home this season.

Looking ahead, Indiana is set to face Winthrop on December 29, while Chattanooga will begin their Southern Conference journey against Mercer on New Year’s Day.
