The Toronto Blue Jays have reached an agreement with left-handed pitcher Josh Walker for a one-year deal valued at $760,000 in the majors and $180,000 in the minors. This news was announced on Friday.

Walker, who is 30 years old, has recorded a 6.45 ERA over the course of 24 relief outings for the New York Mets during the past two seasons. In those 22 1/3 innings, he managed to strike out 23 batters while issuing 12 walks.

During the current season, Walker posted a 5.11 ERA with New York before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 30. Over his eight appearances with Triple-A Indianapolis, he struggled with an 8.00 ERA. Overall, his performance at the Triple-A level, which included time with the Mets’ Syracuse affiliate, resulted in a 4.78 ERA across 33 games.

In a related move, the Blue Jays designated right-hander Hagen Danner for assignment to make room for Walker on the roster.
