Folarin Balogun, the United States and Monaco striker, is set to have surgery to address a shoulder injury he recently sustained.
Ahead of Monaco’s Champions League matchup against Arsenal on Wednesday, coach Adi Hütter expressed uncertainty regarding the duration of Balogun’s absence following the procedure.
The forward had previously been sidelined for roughly two months due to a previous injury but managed to return to play at the end of November. However, during a recent 2-1 defeat to Marseille in Ligue 1, he took a hit that aggravated his shoulder, causing him continued discomfort and leading to missed training sessions last week.
Earlier in the season, Balogun was showing promising form, having scored in three consecutive matches. His scoring streak came to a halt when he left the game against Rennes on October 5 due to his shoulder injury. This setback also resulted in him missing a few fixtures with the U.S. national team.
The striker, who was born in New York but spent his formative years in London, joined Monaco on a five-year contract after departing from Arsenal last year.
