LAKE CHARLES, La. — In an impressive display, Christian Shumate scored 22 points, leading McNeese State University to a commanding 103-69 victory over LeTourneau University on Saturday evening.
Shumate also grabbed five rebounds for the Cowboys, who improved their record to 5-4 on the season. Quadir Copeland made a significant impact as well, contributing 20 points while hitting an outstanding 7 of 8 shots from the field and sinking all 6 of his free throws. In addition to his scoring, Copeland also collected nine rebounds, distributed 11 assists, and recorded three steals.
Sincere Parker rounded out the team’s top scorers with 16 points, achieving an efficient 7 of 11 shooting from the floor.
For the Yellow Jackets, Deonte Jackson was the standout performer, racking up 21 points alongside five assists and an impressive seven steals. Walker Blaine and Caedmon Liebengood each scored 14 points, with Blaine also dishing out four assists.
Looking ahead, McNeese will be on the road to face Mississippi State on December 14, continuing their season’s challenges.
