NEW YORK — Cynthia Erivo, celebrated for her role in “Wicked” and a recipient of numerous prestigious accolades, has been selected to host the upcoming Tony Awards.
“I am incredibly proud and thrilled to embrace this wonderful opportunity,” Erivo expressed in a recent statement. “I eagerly anticipate guiding the theater community through a memorable evening that honors the remarkable performances we’ve experienced throughout the year. My hope is to represent this occasion with the excellence it deserves.”
Erivo boasts an impressive collection of awards, including a Grammy, an Emmy, a Tony, as well as a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and three nominations for the Academy Awards.
The 2024 Tony Awards are scheduled for June 8 and will return to their traditional venue, Radio City Music Hall. The event will be broadcast live on CBS, with streaming available on Paramount+.
The awards are collaboratively organized by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
