The Pentagon is making bold moves against retired Gen. Mark Milley. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth plans to revoke his security detail and clearance. But that’s not all! Hegseth will also launch a probe into whether Milley should be demoted.
Security detail gone – Iran threat no longer an issue?
Milley retired in September 2023. Despite that, he still had Secret Service protection. Why? Because Iran allegedly wanted revenge for the 2020 drone strike that killed Gen. Qasem Soleimani. Trump ordered that strike. Now, the Pentagon says Milley’s protection will end.
Just last week, Trump took similar action. He removed security details from John Bolton and Mike Pompeo. They had protection for the same reason as Milley. Now, Milley is next on the chopping block!
Will Milley lose a star?
Hegseth’s crackdown goes beyond security. He also ordered a Defense Department review board. The goal? To decide if Milley should be stripped of a star in retirement. Officials say this is due to his actions during Trump’s first term. Did Milley undermine the chain of command? The investigation will tell.
Trump vs. Milley – a longstanding feud
Trump and Milley have clashed for years. Their rocky relationship began when Milley made secret calls to China. According to Bob Woodward and Robert Costa’s book Peril, Milley assured China’s Gen. Li Zuocheng that the U.S. was stable. He allegedly said, “We are not going to attack or conduct any kinetic operations against you.”
Trump exploded when he found out. He claims Milley acted behind his back. In a fiery 2021 Truth Social post, Trump suggested Milley committed TREASON. He accused the general of warning China about potential U.S. attacks. “Can’t do that!” Trump raged.
Milley didn’t hold back
Milley hasn’t been silent either. He has bashed Trump publicly and privately. In Peril, he reportedly called Trump a “dumbass” and a “fascist.” Those words didn’t sit well with the former president.
Portraits removed – Milley erased from the Pentagon?
The Pentagon isn’t just stripping Milley’s security and rank. His legacy is vanishing too! A newly unveiled portrait of Milley was quietly taken down just hours after Trump’s inauguration. Another painting, honoring his time as Army chief-of-staff, will also be removed. Fox News says the Pentagon is wiping Milley from its halls.
The Pentagon has not responded to media inquiries. Milley remains silent. But one thing is clear—Trump’s influence is back, and Milley is paying the price!
