Armani’s new NYC restaurant is a must-visit: better than his clothes

Giorgio Armani is not just the king of Italian fashion anymore — now he rules Madison Avenue dining too. The iconic designer, who just celebrated his 90th birthday, has made his mark in Manhattan with a stunning restaurant that exudes style and sophistication. Forget the snootiness you might expect from a luxury brand. Armani’s restaurant is glamorous but approachable. It’s an absolute game-changer in the city’s dining scene.

After years of navigating the pandemic’s challenges, Armani’s new spot, Armani/Ristorante, stands as a shining example of luxury and comfort combined. Located at Madison Avenue and East 65th Street, the restaurant is miles ahead of its old Midtown location. The new venue blends elegance with a cozy atmosphere, offering a fresh take on the Armani brand.

Elite meeting spot

Unlike the touristy vibe of the old Fifth Avenue restaurant, this new space targets the city’s elite — the fashion movers and shakers who live in the neighborhood. It’s a far cry from being a budget option. With prix-fixe menus ranging from $70 for two courses to $180 for seven, the prices may seem steep. But when you compare it to the exorbitant cost of the designer clothes right next door in the Armani boutique, it’s a steal.

The old Midtown restaurant, which opened in 2009, had its moments. At first, it was a favorite among fashion insiders and supermodels. But over time, it lost its appeal, especially with the crowds flocking to nearby Trump Tower. With plans for the building’s sale, Armani teamed up with developer SL Green to create a 12-story luxury condo tower at 760 Madison Avenue. At its base? The swanky new store and restaurant.

The result? The classiest lunch and dinner spot on the Upper East Side. There are plenty of Italian eateries around, but none offer the same blend of high-end charm and stunning beauty. Plus, the service is warm and welcoming, giving everyone a taste of luxury. If there’s one thing I’d change, though, it would be the lack of a dress code. Seeing men in snow jackets in such a chic space feels out of place.

A stylish dining experience

From the moment you step inside, it’s clear: this place is designed for luxury. The main dining room is a masterpiece, influenced by Art Deco. The cool greys and pale greens set a serene tone, while white linen tablecloths and large mirrors reflect the elegance. It’s one of the most gorgeous restaurants in the city, even among competitors like Le Cafe Louis Vuitton and the always-bustling Polo Bar.

But it’s not just about looks — the food here is exceptional. Executive chefs Antonio D’Angelo and Daniele Castellano have crafted a menu that impresses at every turn.

The Bread Service is a standout. Fresh, warm sourdough bread is the star of the show, and it’s so good you might not even need anything else. Add in crispy breadsticks and cheese crisps, and it’s an unforgettable start to your meal.

Seafood and Meat dishes live up to New York’s high standards. One highlight is the cuttlefish carpaccio. The thin slices of cuttlefish, topped with crunchy Taggiasche olives and a rich ragu, create a stunning flavor profile that’s truly unique.

Pasta and Risotto. Each dish is cooked to perfection, with the pasta always coming out al dente and paired with vibrant tomato, saffron, or shellfish sauces.

The Spaghetti Pomodoro, a dish said to be “Mr. Armani’s personal recipe,” is worth the hype. The sauce takes a full 24 hours to prepare, and the effort shows. The sweet, vibrant red sauce coats the spaghetti beautifully, giving it a late-summer flavor that’s pure magic.

Mushroom risotto. Though it’s not officially listed yet, this dish is already winning hearts. If you’re lucky enough to try it, prepare for an indulgent experience.

Reservations: act f!ast

Right now, it’s relatively easy to snag a table, especially for dinner. Many locals are heading off to warmer destinations during the colder months, making it simpler to get in. But don’t wait too long — as soon as the uptowners return from their vacations, tables will be harder to come by. So, make a reservation now before the crowd returns in full force, decked out in Armani’s finest.

Armani/Ristorante has truly set a new standard for Italian dining in Manhattan. With its stylish atmosphere, flawless service, and mouthwatering menu, it’s not just a meal — it’s an experience. Whether you’re a fashion lover or simply a foodie looking for the best, this restaurant is a must-visit. Don’t miss out — head to Madison Avenue before everyone else does!
