Lauren Sánchez’s day of luxury aboard Jeff Bezos’ $500 million yacht took a sudden turn when customs officers interrupted her sunbathing to conduct a surprise raid. The yacht was cruising near St. Barts, a hotspot for celebrities during the holiday season.
Routine Inspection, but a long Wait
A source tells that the inspection lasted about three hours, but it was described as “routine.” Despite the long wait, it didn’t seem to shake up the guests too much. At one point, a redheaded stewardess was seen talking to Sánchez, possibly filling her in on what was going on.
Bezos not on Board during the Ordeal
Bezos, who was nowhere to be seen during the inspection, didn’t appear to be aboard. His spokesperson didn’t respond to our request for comment. Likewise, customs in St. Barts didn’t immediately provide a statement.
Tony Gonzalez keeps Sánchez Company
Sánchez, though, had company during the ordeal. Her ex-boyfriend, former NFL star Tony Gonzalez, was with her. Gonzalez, 48, looked every bit the fit athlete as he showed off his physique while taking a swim in the ocean. The two share a 23-year-old son, Nikko, and have stayed close friends after their split. Sánchez has two other children with her ex-husband, Patrick Whitesell.
Holiday Fun in Aspen with Jeff Bezos
This surprise interruption comes after Sánchez’s holiday festivities in Aspen with Bezos. The couple was spotted partying in the snow, fueling speculation that a wedding was in the works. Rumors swirled that Bezos was planning a grand $600 million wedding for New Year’s Eve. However, the Amazon CEO quickly set the record straight. He took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “This whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening.”
Despite the customs raid and wedding rumors, Sánchez and Bezos seem to be in good spirits. The surprise raid didn’t seem to ruin their luxurious day at sea. Though they are frequently under public scrutiny, the couple knows how to enjoy their time in the spotlight.
