Inside the life of New Orleans terrorist before deadly Attack

The New Orleans terrorist suspect lived in a run-down trailer filled with cheap furniture, rusted workout gear, and what appeared to be a handgun case sitting on the kitchen table.

An exclusive first look by the New York Post inside the property reveals a chaotic and hastily abandoned scene.

The dilapidated home, located in a predominantly Muslim neighborhood in North Houston, was where Shamsud-Din Jabbar resided before his deadly rampage on Bourbon Street. On New Year’s Day, Jabbar drove a rented white Ford F-150 Lightning into a crowd, killing 14 people and injuring dozens more.

Neighbors Recall Jabbar’s Final Day

Hours before the 3 a.m. attack, neighbors saw Jabbar leaving the property. Muntaz Bashir, who lives next door, said Jabbar had mentioned he was relocating to New Orleans for a better job. When Bashir offered to help with the move, Jabbar declined, explaining that he was moving into a furnished apartment and wouldn’t need to bring anything from the home.

Bashir also noticed the new Ford pickup truck Jabbar used in the attack, assuming it was rented or purchased for the relocation.

The Home Left in Disarray

Inside the Houston residence, belongings were scattered haphazardly. Towels lay on the dryer in the laundry room, and an industrial-style cabinet stood amidst the clutter. The abandoned home painted a picture of a man who had abruptly decided to leave everything behind.

Deadly Rampage Ends in Police Shootout

Jabbar’s deadly attack ended when he was fatally shot by police about 350 miles away in New Orleans. Witnesses said the scene on Bourbon Street was one of chaos and terror as the truck plowed through a packed crowd celebrating the New Year.

“Unfortunately, you can’t read someone’s mind,” Bashir reflected, noting how normal Jabbar appeared when they spoke that morning.

The tragedy has left the Houston neighborhood reeling as investigators piece together the details of Jabbar’s life and the motivations behind his horrifying act.
