LOS ANGELES — LeBron James will not participate in the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday evening due to discomfort in his left foot.

The announcement confirmed that James will be sidelined for a second consecutive game as the Lakers come off a four-day break to take on Minnesota.

This week, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer had been absent from the team for an excused personal matter, as stated by coach JJ Redick on Wednesday. It remains uncertain if he will make the brief trip to Minnesota given the tight schedule leading into the Lakers’ next home match against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.

James experienced his initial game absence of the season this past Sunday when the Lakers secured a victory over the Portland Trail Blazers at home, a decision also linked to his foot condition.

Currently, James holds an average of 23.0 points, 9.1 assists, and 8.0 rebounds per game for the Lakers (who sit at 13-11), struggling after a strong start where they won 10 out of their first 14 games but have since lost seven of their last ten.

In addition to James’ status, the Lakers have updated starter Austin Reaves to questionable for the match against Minnesota following a five-game absence due to a pelvic injury. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis is considered probable to play, nursing a left plantar fasciitis.
