Supporters of President-elect Donald Trump brought their loud and proud “Trump Train” to the elite enclave of Montecito, California, on Saturday, creating a spectacle that trolled its high-profile residents, including Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markle.

A Bold Display in Liberal Territory

Videos posted on social media showed a line of flag-waving, horn-honking vehicles rolling through Montecito’s Coast Village Road. Supporters cheered and blared their allegiance to Trump, driving past one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Southern California—home to many celebrities known for their liberal leanings.

The scene was likely a jarring interruption for the community’s famous residents, many of whom are among the Democratic Party’s top donors. Montecito’s high-profile locals include Ellen DeGeneres, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Rob Lowe, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, and Ariana Grande.

Star-Studded Residences

Montecito’s allure lies in its stunning seaside location nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains. The town’s privacy and idyllic climate have attracted celebrities seeking refuge from public life. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry moved to Montecito in 2020, purchasing a $14 million mansion shortly after their dramatic exit from the British royal family.

Meanwhile, Oprah Winfrey owns a sprawling 70-acre estate, affectionately dubbed “The Promised Land,” valued at an eye-popping $90 million.

Winfrey’s Campaign Controversy

Winfrey, one of Montecito’s most prominent residents, faced backlash during the recent election cycle. She reportedly accepted a $1 million appearance fee from the Harris campaign for an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, whom she endorsed in the 2024 race. While Winfrey denied pocketing the money personally, critics questioned the optics of such a hefty price tag, which her production company, Harpo, received.

Harry and Meghan Stay Quiet

In contrast, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remained politically neutral this election season, encouraging voter participation without endorsing a candidate. Their low profile marked a stark departure from 2020 when they made headlines urging voters to “reject hate speech,” a statement widely interpreted as a criticism of Trump. Some speculate their muted stance this time was influenced by Trump’s previous comments, including a suggestion that Harry could face deportation if he lied about drug use on his visa application.

“Trump Train” Processions Across the Country

The Montecito parade is just one example of the “Trump Train” phenomenon, with similar events popping up nationwide. Supporters have used these processions to showcase their enthusiasm for the president-elect, particularly in areas seen as strongholds of Democratic influence.

Montecito’s residents, known for their luxurious lifestyles and political affiliations, likely found the parade an unwelcome disruption—but for Trump’s supporters, it was a loud and triumphant declaration of their continued loyalty.
