Prince Harry’s residency in the United States could soon depend on a decision by Trump’s upcoming Secretary of State, potentially Ric Grenell, who once referred to Meghan Markle as “classic woke”, reports the Daily Mail.

Grenell, the former U.S. ambassador to Germany, is a top contender for the role. His past criticism of Meghan has raised questions about how his appointment might impact the Duke of Sussex’s visa status.

Visa Speculations and Diplomatic Tensions

Prince Harry’s visa status remains confidential after a federal judge recently ruled against making the documents public. Experts speculate he may hold a rare A-1 diplomatic visa, usually reserved for visiting heads of state or dignitaries. If he does hold such a visa, it could be at risk under the Trump administration, as Grenell has previously made bold comments about Meghan’s role in American politics.

Trump Administration’s Potential Leverage

Legal experts suggest that Harry’s visa could be used as a diplomatic bargaining chip. “If the American foreign ministry sees Harry as counter to U.S. foreign policy, it could create tension with the British government,” explained Melissa Chavin, a U.K.-based immigration lawyer. She added, “Revoking Harry’s status without clear cause could strain the U.S.-UK relationship.”

Possible Consequences if Visa Status Changes

If his current visa is revoked, Harry might apply for a green card through his marriage to Meghan or an O-1 visa for individuals with extraordinary abilities. However, this shift could require him to disclose sensitive financial information, potentially impacting the Royal Family’s privacy.

Trump’s Stance on Prince Harry’s Residency

In March, Trump hinted he could take action regarding Harry’s U.S. residency, commenting, “We’ll have to see if there are issues around drugs, and if he lied, appropriate action would follow.” Eric Trump echoed his father’s sentiments recently, saying, “I don’t give a damn about Prince Harry, and I don’t think this country does either.”
