On Election Day, former President Donald Trump encouraged his supporters to stay patient and “STAY IN LINE!” as millions of Americans cast their ballots in what he described as “the most important day in American history.” Trump, who voted in West Palm Beach, Florida, emphasized that voter enthusiasm was high and long lines at polling places were to be expected.

A call to action for GOP voters

Trump’s campaign has focused on rallying voters who traditionally do not participate in elections, with the hope of increasing Republican turnout. He used his social media platform, Truth Social, to share his optimism about GOP participation, urging voters to stand firm and wait in long lines if necessary. “The Radical Communist Democrats want you to pack up and go home,” he wrote, framing the day as a pivotal moment for his supporters.

Voter turnout and election sentiment

Democratic figures, including Vice President Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden, and other top officials, also worked to energize voters with calls to action on social media. While Harris had already cast her vote by mail earlier in the campaign, Biden urged voters to check polling locations and ensure their participation. Meanwhile, early voting data indicated that over 85 million votes had been cast before Election Day.

At the close of Election Day, national polling showed a narrow lead for Harris, but the battleground states were projected to deliver an Electoral College victory for Trump, according to recent polling projections.
