Palestinian authorities have reported that 15 individuals were killed in multiple Israeli attacks overnight in the Gaza Strip.
One of the airstrikes in Gaza City early Friday morning struck a family home, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, including children. Another person was killed in Gaza City when a strike hit a group of people on a street.
According to Gaza’s Civil Defense, in Beit Hanoun, north of Gaza City, another person was killed and several others injured when a vehicle was hit by an Israeli strike. Late Thursday, six more individuals were killed in a strike targeting a home in the center of Gaza City, with another fatality in Beit Lahya, north of Gaza City.
Israel continues to assert that it solely targets militants and accuses Hamas and other armed groups of jeopardizing civilians by operating in residential areas. The military, which rarely provides statements on individual strikes, did not immediately comment on the recent incidents.
The conflict has led to extensive destruction and the displacement of approximately 90% of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million.
In a separate incident, a leader of an Iranian-backed Iraqi militia was reportedly killed in a drone strike in Syria. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed the death of a leader in Iraq’s Kataeb Hezbollah group. An official from an Iraqi militia confirmed the strike but did not disclose the specific militia involved, speaking anonymously due to lack of authorization.
Furthermore, Israel’s military disclosed that two Hezbollah members were killed while planting explosives along the border. The incident led to a series of explosions in Lebanon and Syria, causing casualties and injuries. Israel has been accused of the attacks, which targeted pagers and walkie talkies belonging to Lebanese Hezbollah, but has not officially responded to the accusations.
